Cleanest toilet in town! Had to "go" here because the toilet in the Chick-fil-A where we ate was absolutely disgusting. BTW, Macy's is having a great sale on area carpets right now, with up to 70% off. Also, they have an excellent selection of men's short-sleeved shirts for about $25 each.
Normally this Macys is average to me. I went in today looking for a present for my boyfriend and it was hands down one of the best shopping experiences I’ve ever had (and I shop all the time). I believe his name was Alex he was working in the men’s section. He went above and beyond to help me find the perfect gift. He even went as far to go in the back TWICE to help me find more options and he tried things on for me to see the fit of things. This location unfortunately didn’t have the exact item i was looking for so we printed me out a list of stores that had what I was looking for. He was so genuine with helping me, which is hard to come by these days.
The Ballston Macy's is a tired empty store in the chain which has seen better days. Picked over and deserted, staff and few and far between. As you walk about this place, staff will probably come by as much to help as to conform other exist in this vast merchandising expand full of inventory of no apparent interest to the general public.
This Macy's is one of the most sad and lonely ones I have ever been to. The men's perfume section is very limited, as are other departments. It is dark and lacks joy! At least there's a Department store in Arlington.
We found all that we were looking for at reasonable prices, the customer service was excellent, but the store looked half empty, like it was closing down.
Not a lot of inventory. A lot of dead/empty shelves and retail space. Pretty good deals and discounts, though.
Macy's did not have the sports bra that I wanted which is a very basic item of clothing however they did have several other items including shoe, and in the mall fee flounce which I have now and son 18 in size 18 excuse the Miss transcription and it falls off my hips because I lost 40 pounds recently. The Amalfi flounce perfect bit of office wear for the conservative environment and just right for the bar or disco or spa after you've had your nap without changing you're clothing. As usual the errors in this transcription are due entirely to the gboard A&g voice the transcriber in my android
I find visiting Macy's a bit sad now. I remember them being a mid to upscale department store when I was young... but now, not so much.
The good:
They still have a fairly good, brick and mortar furniture store in the basement.
The prices for most clothing are still fair.
They have a relatively comprehensive men's section.
They have a toys r us section (that just makes me happy after Toys r us folded)
The bad: physical upkeep is just not great. The variety is stained and pulling apart, there are stains on the walls, the escalator is making funny noises...
They just don't have the sizes of most items available.
The seem to be only one open register per floor, leading to long lines and excessive waits.
We ended up walking out without purchasing anything because the wait was too long.
